Kernow
EMC Limited offers a range of services aimed at assisting our
customers with complying with current EU legislation governing electrical and electronic
products, with particular emphasis on the EMC and R&TTE Directives. We aim to simplify the
process of CE Marking and reduce the costs
involved by adopting a basic strategy formulated to your requirements,
that identifies and avoids many of the pitfalls associated with
compliance.
Our Services Include:
- Formulation of a strategy for EMC certification
of a company's product range or a new product about to enter
the design and development cycle.
- Design support and evaluation of a product
or system for EMC performance throughout the design cycle. This
will involve as much pre-certification testing as is practicable
on in-house designed components and samples from external contractors.
- Formulation of a strategy for certification
of a product that has already completed most of the design cycle
or is a mature product imported into the EU for the first time.
This will involve pre-certification testing with recommendations
for any remedial work required.
- Analysis of results from certification
testing should a failure occur, with diagnosis, pre-certification
test and recommended remedial action.
- Full certification support including design
validation, evaluation by test, pre-certification test and support
during the certification phase and the preparation of test plans,
construction files etc.
- Preparation of test documentation (plans
and construction files) and design guidelines. Preparation of
policy documents detailing the methods by which EMC is to be
controlled within the company and which will form part of the
design review process to be followed by the design teams within
the company.
- Review of the company's procedures to
ensure that EMC is considered as an integral part of the design
and design review process, and that EMC is considered through
the manufacturing, installation and service phases for the intended
life of the product. We can act as an independent EMC expert
at your in-house design reviews and mediate where there may conflict
in achieving the most expedient and cost effective way of mitigating
EMC issues.
- Checks for Defence of due diligence.
To satisfy regulation 88, Defence of due diligence, as stipulated
in UK law as SI2372(1992), a Manufacturer or Importer or Agent
must ensure that greater steps than just CE Certification on
one or two samples of the product are taken. It must be possible
to prove that CE compliance will remain valid throughout the
life of the product through test margin, calculation, quality
control and periodic re-test to name but a few. Quality Control
for EMC should be in addition to ISO9000 procedures whereby the
normal quality audits performed on the manufacturing process
and supply of components have a particular emphasis on the impact
on the EMC characteristics of the manufactured item. We can assist
with the implementation of a Quality Control policy which will
count towards the Defence of due diligence, in the unlikely event
that a problem arises.
To facilitate diagnostic testing
during the pre-certification phases and diagnosis in the event
of failure, we possess a range of specialised measuring instruments and software.
We
can cut your costs
We recognise that the services of some Consultants
can be extremely expensive and therefore will always endeavour
to propose a solution or a range of solutions which can be evaluated
by our clients for cost and ease of implementation. The best and
overall most cost effective solution may not always appear to
be the cheapest initially. We will therefore suggest the best
for EMC and attempt to highlight the possible pitfalls of following
apparently cheaper routes.
As a lot of the expense of the services
of a Consultant comes from the time spent on the assignment, we
can operate either on a day to day (as required) basis, where
as much of the work as possible is done off site, or on a contract
basis where most, if not all, of the work is done on-site. We
can cater for contracts of any duration as required by our Clients.
