Instrumentation

To facilitate diagnostic testing at the pre-certification stage and in the event of failure at any point in the certification process, we have a modest range of measuring instrumentation covering the frequency range DC to 3GHz and up to 10GHz for power measurement. We have a range of current clamps and diagnostic 'sniffer' probes usable to 1GHz and can test for ESD events and RF injection a low power. We also have a calibrated emissions reference source to perform basic accuracy checks for radiated emissions measurement and a LISN for conducted emissions evaluation. To investigate the performance of filters and other networks against their theoretical performance we have network analysis capability to 3GHz.

Software

On the software side, we have a very powerful SPICE circuit modelling package and can compare directly measured performance, obtained from a network analyser or other measuring instruments, with the simulated results. This is very useful for e.g. filter response analysis. Our instrumentation is to some extent computer controlled.

In addition, we have an ECAD package with circuit schematic generation and PCB lay out tool which includes full design rules checking and a powerful autorouter. This enables us to view circuit layouts as well as design them. The package also supports SPICE simulation and VHDL.

With our double sided pcb manufacturing facility (prototype only!) we can perform a range of investigative tasks.
