Kernow EMC Limited is an independent Consultancy specialising in the CE marking of electrical and electronic equipment, with particular emphasis on Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).
The Company is located in South East Cornwall and its name is derived from the founder, Alastair Kerr, and Kernow, the Celtic for Cornwall. The company was formed in 1994 to provide a range of services to manufacturers of electrical and electronic equipment, who have requirements to meet current EU (EMC and R&TTE Directives) and US (FCC) legislation. Since its formation, our Consultant has provided such services to customers in the Aerospace, Industrial and Telecommunications industries.
Alastair has a B.Sc.(Hons) degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Glasgow University, is a Chartered Engineer and is a member of the IET and the IEEE. He has 35 years experience, 19 of which were spent as a design engineer working on an Airborne Radar system for the Royal Air Force, a Weapon Locating Radar for the Army and Communications Equipment for the Royal Navy. Since founding the company, Alastair has worked on the EMC design and compliance of In-Flight Entertainment and Fuelling systems for the commercial aircraft industry, W-CDMA telecommunications systems, W-CDMA 3G UMTS Mobile base stations, data communications products, buried cable locators and underground inspection camera systems, and systems for the London Underground.
Alastair is also a member of the Professional Contractors Group (PCG), set up to protect the interests of freelance consultants and contractors.
